Some photos I took at the Refugees Welcome March in London last weekend. The passion on display was heart-warming and infectious. After the feeling of loss brought on by Brexit I felt truly glad to be with so many compassionate humans. For this march I decided to go lightweight with a 50mm lens on my Nikon D610. The prime lens encouraged me to get up close with the people I saw. I wanted to document the march not as an outsider/observer but from the inside as a participant. Often I stopped people and asked if I could take their picture, this got me into a number of interesting conversations. This contrasts with a method I have used previously where I stand to the side of the march and pick people off with a telephoto lens.
